Just about every comics fan knows about the infamous clone saga era in Spider-Man history that started in 1994. But even a year or so before the arrival of Peter Parker’s clone Ben Reilly, the powers that be at Marvel Comics attempted to give Spider-Man a “dark” makeover and portray the character closer to DC Comics Batman whose books were beating Marvel in sales numbers thanks to the Knightfall saga.
The identity of Nightwing usually is a big symbol of change and rebirth in DC Comics. With the recent announcement of another big change for Nightwing, I thought this would be a good opportunity to review and explore the long journey of the heroes that have used this identity, most notable Richard “Dick” Grayson.
Not only has Spider-Man battled everything from common muggers to cosmic level threats with just about every hero from the Marvel Universe, but I believe he also has the greatest number of enemies who have reformed and become heroes (or anti-heroes anyway).
Over the years, a few individuals have taken on the identity of Ant-Man and the Wasp to varying degrees of triumph and tragedy with many other costumed identities spinning out from their legacies.
Since 2011 when DC Comics rebooted and basically “restarted” their whole universe and gave their characters new histories and backstories, many fans have felt much of what made DC Comics great was missing. Many fans even saw this as a good jumping off point, the exact opposite of what the DC Comics team was hoping to achieve in bringing in new readers.
Who is this mystery figure with one of the most complicated backstories in the Marvel Universe? While most of his early years were told non-sequentially, I’ll give you the whole story from start to finish.

According to the financial figures, it seems like all anyone saw or talked about this past weekend was the new Avengers: Infinity War movie. Now the big question is, where does the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s characters go from here?
Will Spider-Man be wearing just another cloth version of the suit or will it be an alien symbiote, which he rejected in the past after learning of it’s true nature? The majority of the times Spider-Man has worn the black suit it has been during times of great stress or darkness.
