The identity of Nightwing usually is a big symbol of change and rebirth in DC Comics. With the recent announcement of another big change for Nightwing, I thought this would be a good opportunity to review and explore the long journey of the heroes that have used this identity, most notable Richard “Dick” Grayson.
Since 2011 when DC Comics rebooted and basically “restarted” their whole universe and gave their characters new histories and backstories, many fans have felt much of what made DC Comics great was missing. Many fans even saw this as a good jumping off point, the exact opposite of what the DC Comics team was hoping to achieve in bringing in new readers.
DC Comics announced Bendis would write a back up story for the upcoming Action Comics issue #1000 with art by Jim Lee. And then the big announcement hit today: Bendis would take over and shake up Superman’s world after Action Comics #1000.
With the holidays almost upon us, I thought this would be a good time to take a look back at some of Marvel and DC Comics many classic superhero holiday tales.
This past Wednesday, we got the release of the first issue of Doomsday Clock #1, the limited series that will finally introduces the characters from the twelve issue Watchmen series from 1986-1987 created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons to the more widely known superheroes of the DC Universe.
This week we get the honor of talking to Peter David, who has written many classic characters and stories in comics and novels.
